The beauty industry is overflowing with glow inducing products these days and I have a sneaky feeling a highlighter has never been this desired before as it is now.
I'd lie if I said I remain indifferent to the trend. In fact I keep my distance as far as I can from matte bases. Achieving this deliciously perky and bright canvas is definitely my number one crucial step before grabbing a lipstick. I'm all about the glow, this season I'm embracing it even more so as I've finally grown to love a blush and a primer.
As with anything I'm pretty fussy about my base. I don't settle for one product, It's a combination of prepping the skin and choosing the right textures. It's all about a luminous sheen glitter free consistency that works well with the synergy of the skin.

A good cleanser is a crucial part of the routine. Taking into account my skin gets drier and drier each year I tend to go for soap free balmy textures.  I'm currently testing the iconic Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser as I finally managed to find it in Boots but here's a round up of my favourites of a few I would recommend.

Superfacialist Vitamin C Skin Renew Cleansing Oil
Superfacialist Rose Hydrate Cleanse
Soap & Glory™ The Ultimelt™ Deep Purifying Hot Cloth Cleanse
WELEDA almond cleansing lotion

I usually follow with an acid toner daily however recently I picked up Pixi Glow Tonic and I've never been happier. Not only does it exfoliate but also it offers an instant tight look to the skin. A Must have. Before I even think of a moisturizer I go for a few drops my trusty Hylamide Booster Low-Molecular HA Serum for an extra moisture and a generous dose of Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Glow Boost Skin Serum for a brighter and smoother skin.

Since my favourite foundations don't wear and settle as well as they used to I figured I needed something extra. I've always dreaded a primer ( it's gonna interfere with my foundation I thought), but to be honest I had no real reason not to try it.  I opted for the Hylamide HA Blur Face Serum since it promises results I'm after (flawless, smooth, soft finish). Spoiler - It's as good as they say.

A finishing powder is another product I've been avoiding mainly because I have always associated it with a flat matte look. Well not anymore, not after I tried the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders. They're brilliant if you're into an understated sheen and flawless multi-dimensional finish.  I top up my base with a touch of a Max Factor Creme Puff Blush, I've had it in every shade available and I still consider them to be the best on a budget if not one of the best on the market. Nude Mauve remains my favourite.
