Since my wardrobe is currently having a bit of an makeover I thought why not add some variety into my makeup bag as well. I wouldn't say I'm stuck in a rut, I always seem to be trying out new releases and play with textures however as far as the colour goes I settle for my favourites way too often.
I've always wanted to try something from Nyx mainly because it's affordable and highly praised. For a long time it hadn't been easily accessible in the UK until recently when it launched in Boots. I rushed to the counter immediately, and so did everyone else in the area I think - I've never seen so much buzz around a counter before.

I've been impressed by the selection of products, the colour in particular. The number of shades in the eye and lip range is definitely something to look more into.

Of course I had to check the brow range first. I picked Micro Brow Pencil and Sculpt & Highlight Brow Contour. I also spent a while swatching all the Soft Matte Lip Creams but since all the shades I was interested in getting weren't available I went for one of the Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick. I threw a pot of a Prismatic Eye Shadow in my basket too.

I got the Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe and Ash Brown. The first one was a bit too light for my liking and not very pigmented, the latter however turned out to be a good match for my brows. I really want to say it's a good dupe for the Brow Wiz but I can't, sorry Nyx. It's not as good but if you want to try out a new brow product you should, it's definitely better than the more expensive picks on the high street.
The Sculpt & Highlight Brow Contour comes in 8 shades, I picked the Ash brown/medium beige. It's a dual tool as you might have guessed. I quite like the brow end, it's the perfect shade for my brows- very cool toned and not too light. I don't get much use out of the highlight part though, still I think it's worth getting just for the brow purpose. It's really good.
Now the Liquid Suede Lipstick, I got it in Soft Spoken, since I'm all about the 90s obv, This one is a love and hate situation unfortunately. I adore the colour, I love how it applies, I do not like how it wears. It dries out to a matte texture yet it's not comfortable and can look patchy. I wouldn't buy it again sadly.
That Prismatic Eye Shadow however is a winner. I don't really know what I was thinking but I got it in Fireball. A rusty almost red shade, a total not me colour, I barely ever wear an eye shadow. I love it though, the pigmentation is pretty incredible for the price, the shimmer doesn't look cheap and the texture isn't too dusty/chalky. Loving it.
In general I think Nyx is THE place to go if you're on a budget or want to play around with makeup, or both.

Definitely the shadows, perhaps in more neutral colours, I really want to give the lipsticks another go and try something else. I'm a bit uncertain about the base section.
What do you think? What have you tried and would recommend?
