Favourite Cleansers for Different Needs*

Ever since I discovered a facecloth is the only way to cleanse, I’ve never looked back and wished I knew this earlier. Before I knew how to clean my face properly I went through bars of soap, liquid gels, cleansing milk + cotton rounds. None of these were ever as good as a flannel + an oil/balm/cream based cleanser. It’s all I recommend to others .

2 IN 1

I took this Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse pot with me on holidays because it gives you options. I’m one of those people who like to wear and play with makeup all year round in all temperatures. So despite 30 degrees outside I was out with a full face on. One side is filled with a solid oil based balm while the other is light weight and creamy. I’ve been using both sides and definitely enjoyed the oil based more. It’s richer in texture, hence, it removes the impurities more efficiently. I liked to use the cream side in the morning or on no make up days. It’s got an impressive ingredient list, doesn’t irritate the eye area but runs out fairly quickly. Then again I like to use more product then I should so maybe that’s my fault …

OIL BASED*

I think I discovered Simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil about 2 years ago and it still remains one of my most used cleansers. If you’re on a budget this really is the best one to buy. It’s on offer in Superdrug quite frequently so you really can snap it up for a fiver. Infused with grape seed oil, it’s gentle, doesn’t irritate and removes dirt and make up really well. I always use a cloth and usually double cleanse with it. It’s a firm favourite.
Next up, I would say an even better version of an oil cleanser is Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil, from The Body Shop, one of my favourite brands to buy from. It removes make up completely leaving your skin soft and fresh. I love using it more so because of the subtle chamomile fragrance.
If you’re after something that is designed purely for removing make up this Pre Cleanse and Make-Up Remover* from Ark could be for you. It’s a definite step up from your regular micellar water type of product. Infused with a combination of fruit oils (kiwi, grape seed, avocado), Omega 3, 6 and 9, it dissolves dirt and make up thoroughly while being gentle and soothing on the skin at the same time.

CREAM / GEL BASEd*

I have been testing a few products from Ark, a British, cruelty-free skincare brand including this Conditioning Cleanser* from the Age Defend range specifically created for 30 plus skin types. Being in my thirties I started paying more attention on what I put on my skin and over the years I have found a handful of products that deliver. I’m always on a hunt for something affordable with good ingredients to make a difference to my skin. Not only does this cleanser remove impurities but it also cares for your skin. It includes Morninga oil, which contains Vitamin A and C. All of these prevent your skin from losing its moisture while making sure it’s clean. What’s more, Kiwi and Passion Fruit oils combined with Omega 3 fatty acids boost hydration levels and Blue Lotus extract improves skin elasticity and firmness.
